The Faroe Islands office constitutes the basis of Henning Larsen Architects’ work in the North Atlantic. The office is managed by architect Ósbjørn Jacobsen, who is also associate partner in Henning Larsen Architects. Ósbjørn has been lead designer of several large international projects, including Harpa - Reykjavík Concert Hall and Conference Centre, which was recognised with the Mies van der Rohe Award 2013.
Henning Larsen Architects won the masterplanen for Klaksvík City Centre in 2012, and the office in the Faroe Islands is now developing the first 4,000 m2 residences within the masterplan, situated around the central urban plaza and marking the first step in the realisation of the new city centre.
In addition, the office is working on a residential project covering 20 houses in the Oman Mattalag district in Tórshavn, won by Henning Larsen Architects in spring 2013. The detailed design of the project is already moving ahead.
