The exhibition displays the significant influence of architecture on the environment, city structure, landscape and society – and the influence of each of these individual elements on architecture. The exhibition has previously been presented at the Utzon Centre in Aalborg, Denmark, and at Architekturgalerie München, Germany. In 2013, the exhibition will be presented at selected locations in Copenhagen and Oslo. Umeå Art Museum is designed by Henning Larsen Architects and was inaugurated in June 2012. The museum forms the heart of Umeå Arts Campus, which also comprises the Academy of Fine Arts, the Institute of Design and the new School of Architecture, designed by Henning Larsen Architects in collaboration with White Architects from Sweden. In addition to the Art Museum, the School of Architecture is presented at the exhibition. Other projects at the exhibition include Harpa – Reykjavik Concert Hall and Conference Centre in Iceland, the world largest green development plan King Abdullah Financial District in the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh and Batumi Aquarium whose design is inspired by the characteristic pebbles of Batumi beach. The exhibition in Umeå will run from 28 October to 25 November.
