Dongguan Central Park is a winner at the WLA Awards
The 2024 World Landscape Architecture Professional Awards announced Dongguan Central Park Phase 1 as an Honour Award winner in the Built – Large Landscape Design category. The project has been recognized for its innovative integration of nature and the built environment and its evident impact on visitors.

Located along Xinji River, a water-sensitive design approach weaves through Dongguan Central Park, acting as an ideal habitat, a spot to play, or the perfect place for a morning stroll.
Known colloquially as the “factory of the world,” Dongguan aspires to become a first-tier city in China alongside its global powerhouse neighbors, Shenzhen and Guangzhou. Dongguan Central Park features a human-centric design, revitalizing a dilapidated village site dating back to the 1880s into the city's upcoming central business district.
Using nature-based solutions, the “P-L-A-C-E making” principles of the park – People-oriented, Legible, Active, Cleansed, Ecological – were the blueprint for revitalizing industrial Dongguan into a centre of a future global city to live, work and play. The borderless design principle complements the indoor and outdoor spaces, enhancing the three-dimensional park usability and forming a natural ecological green heart.
