Campus Aas is a highly complex facility, comprising BSL-2 and BSL-3 laboratories and a veterinary hospital. In addition, the new campus will feature state-of-the art teaching and office spaces as well as meeting and student facilities.
The vision for the project is to facilitate close interaction between the various educational and research institutions, promoting knowledge-sharing and collaboration across research fields. The buildings should comprise common spaces that encourage network creation across the consolidated institutions and provide the framework for mutual inspiration and informal learning.
The process is characterised by a high degree of user involvement to achieve functional, efficient and sustainable solutions, adaptable to the rapidly developing world of research. The detailed design and construction phases will stretch over many years where new technologies and teaching methods will continuously place new demands on the buildings. Thus, a flexible, robust design is decisive to ensure that the campus can easily be adapted to new knowledge and opportunities.
