The main purpose with the extension is to add much-needed square meters to the existing building while creating a new architectural and organizational whole. The two-phase extension will add two buildings to the existing city hall, and provide an additional 283 new work stations.
A transparent entrance building will connect the new complex and add an open, modern element to the city. Functioning as a circulation and common space for all departments and employees, easy access is provided from the entrance to offices, meeting- and conference facilities.
The extension is designed with a focus on flexibility and transformation. The interior can be configured as cubicle offices, open-plan offices, or open office landscapes. All workspaces are placed along the façade, providing daylight for optimal working conditions. Furthermore, the extension is designed to accommodate as-yet-unforeseen organizational changes that may come in the future.
Facades are designed with an open angle, which adjusts to changing daylight levels throughout the year. The window sequence is determined by the building’s inner functionalities; on the exterior it creates a dynamic architectural expression. From each wing, there will be direct access to terraces, further increasing the quality of the working environment.
