    • SDU Campus Kolding has been awarded a prestigious LEAF Award in the category Best Sustainable Development of the Year 2015. The project is designed by Henning Larsen Architects. The university is Denmark’s first low energy university.

The LEAF Awards are presented by the association of European architects, Leading European Architects Forum, which has recognised innovative architectural projects with awards since 2002.

SDU Campus Kolding, completed in 2014, supports different teaching methods, new ways of teaching and is a flexible and state-of-the-art teaching environment. With its triangular shape, Campus Kolding has created a new landmark in Kolding. The building is located in the centre of the city close to the harbor, station and scenic attraction of the river.

The sustainable strategy has been integrated in the architectural design of the building. The geometry ensures the best utilization of every square meter and the skylight in the atrium ensures a fair distribution of daylight to the entire building. The building is fitted with a dynamic solar shading system that consists of approx. 1,600 triangular shutters of perforated steel. They are mounted on the facade in a way which allows them to adjust to the changing daylight and desired inflow of light.

Henning Larsen Architects and Tredje Natur also won a LEAF Award for Best Urban Design of the Year 2015 for Vinge Train Station. Previously, Henning Larsen Architects has received five LEAF Awards in different categories.
