The new Department of Systems Biology will comprise state-of-the-art laboratory and office facilities. The new building volume should be carefully integrated into the existing architecture at DTU, and the renovation project will serve as a pilot project for the future energy retrofitting of DTU's building portfolio.
As advanced research institution, the Department of Systems Biology comprises complex laboratory functions with high cleanliness standards, classification and confinement requirements. The team of Henning Larsen Architects and NNE Pharmaplan has been selected for the project as a result particularly of the team's extensive reference portfolio in similar projects.
Henning Larsen Architects is behind a number of buildings for laboratory and research purposes worldwide. Projects include the Norwegian University of Life Sciences at Campus Ås in Norway, European Spallation Source (ESS) at Lund University in Sweden and the Research Institute of the Norwegian Radium Hospital.
