Green Award to Novo Nordisk’s New Headquarters

The park-like landscape surrounding the new Novo Nordisk Headquarters in greater Copenhagen has been awarded the 2014 Scandinavian Green Roof Award by the Scandinavian Green Roof Association.

    • The park is designed by landscape architects SLA, and provides a verdant setting for the new Novo Nordisk Headquarters, a two-building complex by Henning Larsen Architects.

According to the award jury, the project won over so many others due to the conscientious integration of the landscape with the buildings’ green roofs. In their decision, they elaborated: “Novo Nordisk … is a project where the possibility for recreation and clever handling of rain water is combined with great care and biological value. Seven domestic biotopes and an innovative design have created a rolling landscape where the green landscape and the roof unite.”

Established in 2000, this year marks the 15th anniversary of the Scandinavian Green Roof Awards. The award is given annually to a project that performs well in terms of exterior vegetation or by thinking innovatively about the development of green roofs and landscapes.

Skælskør Landscape Gartner is behind the individual trade contract while the innovative plant habitats are produced by Urban Green. Byggros has delivered all the systems for the green roofs.
