Among the shortlisted companies are some of the most renown practices from around the world. Henning Larsen Architects are up against Snohetta (Norway), Herzog & de Meuron (Switzerland), and Gehry Partners (USA) to name a few.
The 100,000 ft2 concert hall is to comprise two chambers of 1800 and 600 seats. Furthermore, it will be a place for musical education of children and adults. The College for Music and Drama in Munich will also be using the new premises with dedicated rehearsal halls and a stage venue for practicing.
The concert hall will be situated in a new city district in the eastern part of Munich. It is expected to be completed ultimo 2017.
