We Will Design New Publishing House for Danish Newspaper

Jyllands-Posten is moving to a new, dynamic HQ right by the waterfront in Aarhus, the second largest city in Denmark. Henning Larsen has designed the 91,493 square feet large building that will give the newspaper and its employees an ideal environment.

    • The building is trapezoidal shaped and has a compact design that centers towards the harbor. The building’s distinctive open façade presents Jyllands-Posten as a modern, active, and energetic media company that produces news around the clock.

“We wanted to design the ideal house for Jyllands-Posten’s employees and the best environment for the creative work they are doing. The building has a strong inner logic that will support cooperation and knowledge sharing across editorial teams and departments in the organization,” explains Søren Øllgaard, Lead Architect on the project.

“The distance from one side of the center atrium to the other is short, so it will be easy to get in contact across the atrium and floors. The building will be buzzing with activity.”

The five floors of the building are connected by the atrium that also directs light into the building. The site by the waterfront will make the publishing housing a visible and significant part of the development of the harbor area. The building is planned to be completed in 2019.

Jyllands-Posten is one of the largest daily newspapers in Denmark and is currently based in a suburb to Aarhus.
