The town hall that doubles as a bridge in the Faroe Islands wins a 2018 Architecture MasterPrize in the Institutional Architecture category. Presented by the Farmani Group, the Architecture MasterPrize celebrates architecture that “enriches our lives.”
At its core, architecture is about communities and bringing people together. We believe architecture should create social spaces that encourage human connection. The Eystur Town Hall not only doubles as a bridge between municipalities Leirvík and Gøta, physically bringing communities together, but its very design reflects the lives of the community. The design pays tribute to the distinctive Nordic landscapes and traditional Faroese grass-roofed houses.
We are honored the Architecture MasterPrize jury recognizes Eystur Town Hall in the Institutional Architecture category, as well as Frederiksbjerg School in the Educational Buildings category.
