Last week, Frederiksbjerg School received the 2018 Building Award in the ‘Projektprisen’ category, and now it wins a 2018 Architecture MasterPrize in the Educational Buildings category.
The school’s architecture responds to the new visions for education in Denmark. It is one of the first schools designed to meet the requirements of the National Danish Reform of Public Schools, implemented in 2014. A key aspect of the reform is that children need more exercise during the school day. At Frederiksbjerg School, children are encouraged to be physically active throughout the day. By means of climbing stairs, Tarzan tracks, and playgrounds, the children’s journey from A to B is designed to be a fun physical challenge.
In addition to Frederiksbjerg School, Eystur Town Hall wins a 2018 Architecture MasterPrize in the Institutional Architecture category.
Frederiksbjerg School is designed in collaboration with GPP Arkitekter.
