Nordea’s Danish Headquarters wins the 2018 World Architecture News Award for Commercial buildings. The design focuses on opening up to the city in a welcoming gesture and setting a new standard in the financial industry.
The new Nordea opens up to the city by providing passersby on the street the opportunity to glance directly into conference rooms and offices, and the two large atria are interconnected by a publicly accessible inner streetscape. Visual contact and uninterrupted views are guiding principles across meeting rooms, offices, quiet spaces, balconies, stairways, and dining areas. The Western atrium space houses Scandinavia’s largest trading floor with a capacity of 600 traders working with a view of scenic Amager Fælled.
Nordea wins alongside the Carl H. Lindner College of Business and the Belfast waterside in unbuilt categories – education and urban design respectively.
