New Studio in Berlin Marks the Official Integration of Ramboll Studio Dreiseitl to Henning Larsen

The opening marks the official integration of Henning Larsen and Ramboll Studio Dreiseitl Germany, launching a new direction for architecture, landscape and urban design in our company.

    • On June 16, we opened our new Berlin studio and announced the integration of German landscape architecture firm Ramboll Studio Dreiseitl, marking a new focus on nature in balance with urban development. The opening event was attended by the Danish Ambassador to Germany Susanne Hyldelund, managing director Mette Kynne Frandsen and global design principal Louis Becker.

Located in Wilhelm Hallen, a former industrial complex in Berlin’s Reinickendorf district, the new Berlin studio will become an interdisciplinary design hub of architects, landscape architects and urban designers, connecting to the rich discourse on sustainability and urban development in Berlin. Our collaborative and knowledge-driven design approach made Berlin a natural choice for expansion in Germany, in addition to our studio in Munich, which opened in 2011. The Berlin studio will partner with academia and industry in the city and share insights from our international team of designers and researchers to foster sustainable solutions for tomorrow.

Louis Becker, Global Design Principal: “Berlin has a unique creative energy and is located in the heart of Europe. With our decision to open a studio here, we hope to learn from the city’s original way of thinking that has made it such an exciting place to be, and contribute fresh ideas to help shape a sustainable future.”

With the opening of the Berlin studio Ramboll Studio Dreiseitl integrates with Henning Larsen, bringing decades of experience in sustainable landscape architecture, marking an increased focus on the quality of life for people, in balance with nature. Ramboll Studio Dreiseitl’s existing studios in Überlingen and Hamburg will become part of our global network of design studios - allowing them to exchange knowledge generated in different cultural contexts.

“To mitigate the effects of climate change on our cities, we need to put nature first. With our expertise in water and landscape, and Henning Larsen’s knowledge-driven approach there is huge potential to rethink how we design cities and landscapes. We are excited to address these global challenges as part of a design-driven organisation, in close collaboration with urbanists and architects,” says Dieter Grau, Design Director Landscape.

Werner Frosch, Managing Director of Henning Larsen Germany add: “As architecture and landscape become more intertwined, we see a great opportunity in joining forces with Ramboll Studio Dreiseitl. United by our shared ambition to pioneer sustainable change, we are ready to accelerate Germany’s green transition. Our expansion in Germany will strengthen our life-centric approach to buildings, cities, and landscapes.”

We have collaborated with Ramboll Studio Dreiseitl on several projects in the past, including a recent competition win for the design of a tech campus in Ehningen, near Stuttgart. We share a long history of working in Germany, having delivered projects for leading German businesses and institutions including Siemens, Der Spiegel, RBB Rundfunk, the Fraunhofer Institute, Volkswagen Immobilien, Alnatura, Ingenhoven Architects, GMP Architekten, and the City of Berlin. Current projects include the Ladehof office building in Augsburg, which was developed in collaboration with Ramboll Studio Dreiseitl; and Wolfsburg Connect, a new urban district in Volkswagen’s hometown of Wolfsburg.
