        As Partner and Head of Henning Larsen’s Sustainability Engineering Department, his professional focus revolves around the interaction between engineering, architecture and modern technology. Jakob also manages Henning Larsen’s unique Industrial PhD program, which co-hosts PhD candidates from co-sponsoring institution, in various R&D projects based on Henning Larsen case studies. Currently, five ongoing PhD projects are underway in the department: These projects focus on integrated acoustics simulations, lighting design in learning environments, design for disassembly of facades, and anthropological studies focusing on knowledge sharing in common spaces.

        Jakob employs specialized software such as DIVA-for-Rhino for highly optimized daylighting analysis, IES-VE for indoor environment optimization, Openfoam to conduce (CFD) computational fluid dynamics and Tally / REVIT for integrated Life Cycle Assessment.

        Jakob holds a MSc and PhD in Architectural Engineering and is a LEED / WELL Accredited Professional and DGNB Certified Auditor, specializing in healthy and sustainable design, and is currently working closely together with authorities regarding future building regulations on sustainability topics like Daylight, materials, circular economy and urban microclimate.

        Jakob has gained vast international experience through projects addressing cross-cultural design, varying climatic zones, and ambitious sustainability certification objectives. His work experience includes the King Abdullah Financial District in Saudi Arabia, the Nordea Bank HQ in Denmark, Gothenburg’s Central Lindholmen Innovation District, the European Spallation Source in Sweden, and the University of Cincinnati’s College of Business in the United States.

        As LEED AP and DGNB Auditor, Jakob qualifies new sustainable building and city development projects for LEED and DGNB certifications.
