• Malmö Stadsbibliotek

Henning Larsen's extension to the historical library building in Malmö is an almanac of the changing seasons. For the same reason, the award winning building is also called the "Calendar of Light".

    • In 1946, the Malmö Library moved into a Renaissance building in the palace gardens at the center of the city. Several decades later, Henning Larsen was selected to design a modern, inviting extension to this historical cultural institution. From the library's primary rooms there are views of the idyllic palace gardens, and the transparent facade makes it possible to observe the path of daylight and nature. In 1997, Henning Larsen received Sweden's oldest and most renowned architectural award, the Kasper Salin prize, for his design, and the building is still an important source of inspiration for our work.
