    • The spacious galleries of the museum create a raised mound from which five towers protrude like the wings of the desert falcon. A naturalistic landscape botanical garden wraps around the museum building. The challenging environment is essentially a steep, green roof where bio-engineering and water-wise irrigation are essential in the tough, zero-tropical climate and where the interface with the museum logistics and security requirements are complex.

      The native natural habitats of the Emirates - sabkah, desert plains, wadi and mountain - are evoked in microcosm within the landscape design, which progresses from the sea to the museum. Indigenous plants are used to form a new, native garden culture which combines the subtle beauty of tough, climate adapted desert plants and their cultural uses. Exquisite and cooling oasis pockets are refreshing rest spots. The landscapes can be described as the museum’s sixth gallery, where the country‘s natural treasures can be experienced and treasured.
