      Two International Awards for Henning Larsen

      Two of Henning Larsen Architects’ Saudi-Arabian projects were granted awards when the Middle East Architect Awards 2011 were presented in Dubai on Wednesday 14 September 2011.

    • King Abdullah Financial District situated in the capital of Riyadh received the award 'Commercial Project of the Year'. In 2007, Henning Larsen won the competition for the master plan, which consolidates the various financial institutions of the city in a well-defined area. Residences, as well as cultural and recreational opportunities, contribute to creating a vibrant, attractive atmosphere around the clock. Henning Larsen Architects is also behind a number of the distinctive buildings currently rising in the district.

      The Institute of Diplomatic Studies was presented with the award for 'Public Sector, Institutional & Cultural Project of the Year'. The Institute is also situated in Riyadh opposite the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was designed by Henning Larsen Architects in the 1980’s and inaugurated in 1984.

      Business Development Manager Mathilde Wehlén, Henning Larsen Middle East, received the awards on behalf of the company.

      The Middle East Architect Awards were presented for the fourth time and recognized significant projects in 13 different categories.
