      Harpa wins Icelandic cultural prize

      Harpa – Reykjavik Concert Hall and Conference Centre has been awarded the prestigious DV Cultural Prize 2012 in the category of Architecture. The Icelandic newspaper Dagblaðið Vísir (DV) is behind award. 

    • The nine winners of DV’s Cultural Prize are announced at the newspaper’s website. Extract from the description of Harpa:

      “The Concert Hall Harpa adds a fascinating, surprising element to the townscape and will play an important role for both Reykjavik City Centre and the old harbour space in the future. Harpa contributes to setting new architectural standards in the area.”

      The DV Cultural Prize is awarded for the 33rd time this year. Harpa has previously won a number of international awards. Most recently, the building was recognised with this year’s Civic Trust Award.
