New Design Director for Henning Larsen Middle East

Simon Ingvartsen has been employed as the new Design Director of Henning Larsen Architects’ subsidiary in Saudi Arabia, Henning Larsen Middle East (HLME). His job will be to secure innovative architectural projects in the office and thus further develop Henning Larsen Architects’ leading position in the Saudi architectural industry.

    • Simon Ingvartsen has previously had his own design studio, and he has been closely affiliated with academia through his employment at the architecture schools of Copenhagen and Aarhus as lecturer and jury member. He has vast insight into the Arab world where he has designed and managed the development of a large private villa project, ‘Desert Roses’, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

With the employment of Simon Ingvartsen at HLME, Henning Larsen Architects strengthens its Scandinavian profile in the Middle East in general and in Saudi Arabia in particular.

”There is a fantastic dynamic atmosphere and energy in the Saudi market that I look very much forward to becoming part of. It is a privilege to get the opportunity to continue my work in the cross-field between Scandinavian architecture and the booming Saudi building sector. With the foothold that we have already gained in Saudi Arabia and the promising projects that are in the pipeline, I really believe that we have the opportunity to make a real difference to the architectural landscape of the country. This is what I am working towards”, says Simon Ingvartsen about his new role as Design Director for HLME.

Simon Ingvartsen is an educated architect from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture, in Copenhagen and the Bartlett School of Architecture in London. He has worked at projects in Denmark, Great Britain, Norway, Germany and Saudi Arabia. Simon has vast experience with managing both the cross-disciplinary coordination between the various project consultants and with all aspects of architectural design – from landscape planning to interiors and furniture design.

Currently, the Henning Larsen Middle East office is working on an extension for the Makarim Annakheel Village in Jeddah. The Makarim Annakheel Village is a luxury resort operated by Makarim Hospitality Group, member of Saudi Hotels and Resorts Company. The extension includes 107 new rooms, a new restaurant, swimming pool, new conference facilities and a spa area.
