Topping-out Ceremony at Microsoft’s New Danish HQ

Construction workers were the guests of honour at the topping-out ceremony for Microsoft’s new headquarters on Wednesday November 12th in Lyngby.

    • Peter Mering, CEO of the client Danica Ejendomme, delivered a speech highlighting the beautiful work of the construction workers, saying: “I would like to thank you all for good collaboration and for a continuous focus on quality, time-frame, and workplace safety.”

The mayor of the municipality of Lyngby-Taarbæk, Sofia Osmani, also thanked the construction workers for their work on transforming Kanalvej—the building site in Lyngby—which was formerly an open parking lot. The topping-out ceremony also included speeches from Microsoft Denmark CEO Charlotte Mark, and Hanan Ghizzaui, architect and project manager at Henning Larsen Architects.

The new headquarters will unite Microsoft’s nearly 900 Danish employees under one roof. The building is designed to provide a physical framework which supports the processes and workplace requirements of a modern knowledge company. The interior design provides all employees with spaces for focus, knowledge sharing, and social gatherings.

Lyngby’s citizens and visitors will also be able to enjoy the new facilities; Microsoft’s ‘tech-café’ will be open to the public, and offer guests a cup of coffee and the opportunity to try some of Microsoft’s newest products.

The building is expected to be complete in November 2015.
