Egedal Town Hall and Health Centre Inaugurated

On Tuesday 18 November 2014 Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II inaugurated Denmark’s first combined town hall and health care centre in Egedal.

    • Flexibility and changeability are the keywords in the new Egedal Town Hall and Health Centre. The building contains 460 work places, public service, town council hall, gym, rehabilitation facilities and temporary housing units for the users of the health centre. The different functions can be separated or joined as required. In that way new spatial possibilities continuously arise.

The various activities of the building sprout up around the central square that leads through the large atrium. The town council hall is situated on the ground floor and can be opened up towards the central square – in connection with exhibitions, concerts or other special events.

Egedal Town Hall and Health Centre is one of the first buildings in the new planned urban area around Egedal Station. The building gathers the administrative unities of the municipality, which were previously situated on eight different addresses. Egedal Town Hall and Health Centre will be the uniting centre of the new Municipality of Egedal north of Copenhagen.

The Town Hall and Health Centre was designed by Henning Larsen Architects in collaboration with SLA, Henrik Larsen Engineering Consultants and Nielsen Consulting Engineers.
