    • Yuhang city district is developed around the artificial "East Lake", which unites the cultural and recreational facilities of the city. Floating on the water, the prominent Opera building will constitute the landmark of the city. It forms part of the cultural hub by the lake canals, comprising several theatre stages, museums, and an art college. The interplay between buildings and canals creates a new city district in human scale, offering intimate urban spaces and roofed galleries. The Opera's roof is designed as a publicly accessible gathering point, developed to accommodate outdoor concerts and official celebrations. A long promenade of restaurants snakes along the lake, which transforms into a delta-like park area with small islands and canals to the east.
